THEPARKER WALFORDFOUNDATION

ROOTED IN SUSSEX · INVESTING IN COMMUNITY

Stronger roots.
Stronger communities.

Good things grow when people support one another. We’re building a foundation to help local organisations make a lasting difference.

Discover our purpose

A foundation taking shape

Our next chapter is beginning.

The Foundation is in formation and is not yet a registered charity. Grants and public donations are not currently open.

01 / OUR PURPOSE

Local knowledge.
Practical support.
Shared possibility.

The Parker Walford Foundation is a community initiative being developed by Douglas Walford and Melissa Parker.

Our ambition is to support the organisations that help people and places thrive: connecting local needs with thoughtful funding, useful goods and equipment.

We plan to begin close to home, with an initial focus on communities within approximately 15 miles of Wivelsfield Green, Sussex. That local focus will guide our early work without becoming an absolute boundary.

Our proposed model supports eligible organisations. We do not currently offer direct grants to individuals.

02 / OUR FOCUS

More ways for
communities to flourish.

These proposed priorities will shape our early work as we establish the Foundation.

01

Everyday essentials

Helping organisations address poverty and food insecurity in their communities.

02

Learning & opportunity

Supporting education and youth development, with space for people to grow.

03

Health & care

Supporting charitable health services and hospices that make a difference to local lives.

04

Inclusion & independence

Supporting organisations working with disabled people, older people and carers.

05

Community connections

Helping charitable community projects bring people together and strengthen local support.

06

Places & nature

Supporting environmental protection and improvement for the places we share.

03 / OUR APPROACH

Listen carefully.
Support thoughtfully.

We want our support to be useful, responsible and grounded in what communities actually need.

  1. Start with local organisations

Trustee outreach will help us understand local needs and identify eligible organisations.

  2. Match support to the need

Our proposed approach combines grants with suitable donated goods and equipment.

  3. Make considered decisions

We plan to assess public benefit, check eligibility and manage conflicts of interest before making awards.

  4. Learn from the difference made

Proportionate monitoring will help us understand outcomes and improve future support.

04 / WHERE WE ARE NOW

Putting strong
foundations in place.

We’re preparing the governance and operating arrangements needed to take the next step.
